Your child may be a British Citizen in which case you will not need to register, for example if the citizenship was automatically acquired at birth, if your child is not a British Citizen there may be potential entitlement to registration. We would need to consider whether:

– The discretionary criteria are met
– There are compelling or compassionate circumstances
If you are an EU citizen and you have lived in the UK for 5 years you automatically acquire the right of permanent residence in the UK. However, if you want to become a British Citizen, you will need a permanent residence card before you can apply.
